Winter camping, tarp doors or not?

My backpack load gets a tiny bit heavier in winter, and I've just gotten new tarp doors. Not significant addition weight wise, ~ 8 oz.,but does add some bulk (in snake skins) I've done some testing in cold and wind here at the house, but just wondering how necessary doors are if there's no discernible wind? Or would strategic tarp setup allow for no doors, one door? I'm talking about nighttime temps into the mid 20's. What's your experience with/without tarp doors.

    Thanks,
    Leigh

with no wind and doors deployed....and the tarp to the ground, e.g. discernable air gaps-you can get 8-10 degrees of free warmth inside well free is relative.

Doors def help warm up your sleeping area if you pitch your corners on the ground. I use doors during all 4 seasons and find the xtra ounces way worth the xtra coverage but HYOH thats just IMHO. FIY I use the BWWD V2 in Winter man and in Summer Spring and parts of Fall I use the Mc Cat Delux with Sewn on doors.
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

I am waiting on my Superfly with doors to arrive at present. I went out Friday night with my HH Hex tarp - no doors, and calm to no wind in my location. Temps were 20F at 5pm, and 7F at 7am. I made out just fine.

If I had a tarp with doors, I would have used it none the less. But not having them did not stop or hamper me from getting out there.
