Known Hammock Friendly Camping within 2 hours of San Francisco?

    Hi all,

I checked out the hammock friendly spreadsheet and added one (Schoolhouse Canyon). We're planning our spring through fall trips now and we are looking for known hammock allowed sites within a couple hours of the city so that we can go for just the weekend.

If you have places you have hammocked that fit the bill, I'd love to know about them. Thanks!

Big Sur is right at the southern end of two hours from you. I hung in several places in Big Sur when I lived in Monterey...Bottcher's Gap was one of the most convenient starting places. I usually just parked there and hiked down to the river, but I've also hung in the campground with no problems.

    Harbin Hot Springs !

... in Middletown, CA, 2 hours drive north of San Francisco, in Lake County. Great clothing optional hot springs...$25 a day includes camping priveleges, with lots and lots of places to hang...lots of fun activities and events every day, as well.

    Enjoy!
