I have HH ultralight. I received to sets of snake skins in the deal. I am going to hang the tarp on a separate line but am confused as to which one (or both) I need to use the snakes on.
Any advice for those with experience?

I use it on the tarp more often than I use it on the hammock. It's pretty convenient to hang the tarp but leave it in the skins...then if it starts to sprinkle during the night it's quick and easy to stake out the tarp.

IMPOSSIBLE JUST TAKES LONGER
Buy another set of snake skins and then you can have a set on both
Seriously though, go with whatever you think would work better. Quick and easy tarp deployment as stated above is one theory. I started with having skins on my hammock as I pack them on the outside of my pack most of the time while hiking. Now I have a set on both hammock and tarp.
Does it rain where you are? Then i would put it on the hammock so none of it gets wet.
What i do is just wrap everything in the snakeskins. Rain fly and hammock. That way nothing gets wet and your tarp is basically already set up.
My tarp and ridgeline goes in snake skins and my hammock goes in a black bishop bag.
I use a set for each. Makes things fast and easy.
Visualize whirled peas.
I have stopped using my snakeskins, as I found that due to the way the fabric is bundled in them, they are harder and bulkier to pack. Now I use a bishop bag for the hammock, and a smaller stuff sack for my tarp.
Make a second set. They are easy.

Both. Found some 1 oz netting at walmart for $1.50 a yard.
Made 2 complete sets out of a 6' section, $3 total cost.
I stuff the tarp in a long cuben stuff sack, one end goes in first, with cordage. The other end is in the top of the stugg sack, so I pull one end out, tie off to the tree the walk to the other tree feeding out the tarp of hammock then tie off the other end.
