I think you will like it especially considering the cost. Be sure to go to Wal-Mart and buy a $3 space blanket and place it over the HH pad. Better yet, get a Heat Sheet:

Be sure and make sure the pad's elastic loop is lined up perfectly with the left side hammock tie out and the under covers exit hole. I have found I am better off not connecting the right side knee level pad loop. For some bizarre reason, it is about a foot too far towards the hammock foot end. If connected to the right side tie outs as directed, excess tension pulls it towards the head end and causes the pad to buckle under my knee/calf are. It did not feel cold, but that gap can not be optimum. It works much better left unattached on the right side, it smoothly molds under my leg. Even better: I ran a piece of cord from the pad tie out loop up the a screw link(mini-biner) on my ridgeline. Perfect! That snugs it right up to and molds it to my entire right leg.

i am on the fence between getting a HHSS or a molly mac gear IX hammock sock. the HHSS is cheaper for me right now but the sylnylon thing and condensation thing bothers me. the MMG IX sock with SEEP appeals to me where as the top cover can just flip over and i do have two IX hennessy pads that i could add to the sock.

i like the at the MMG sock is a breathable nylon. Cost is a factor right now thought.

Has anyone used IX inserts in conjunction with OCF pad or instead of OCF pad?

Currently debating with myself whether or not this is worth it. I don't do much winter camping, but this would be a great lightweight/compact alternative to a sleeping pad.

Think it's worth the hundred bucks compared to a sleeping pad though?

In my opinion, it is more comfortable than a sleeping pad and depending on how you set it up more useable in a wider range of temps.

I'm leaning towards buying it, particularly because my sleeping pad is currently the bulkiest thing I have to pack for camping.

One thing I want to ask is if the included stuff sack is really useful or not. I've heard that because the underpad is easy to damage, it's best to store it more loosely. Would the stuff sack from an ultralite hammock work? I use snakeskins, so I'm not using that one for anything right now.

EDIT: Well, I caved and bought one. It'll be fun seeing how it performs.

I definitely prefer my SS to a sleeping pad. It is much more comfortable, I still get the full comfort of the hammock and I can go down to 40* without much alteration/additional insulation other than my jacket and maybe a survival blanket. I really don't enjoy the feeling of having a sleeping pad wrapped around me.
