Finishing the edge of Silnylon ?

I'm thinking about making some small end covers / doors for my SpinnUL OES standard.

Nothing major, Think a mini version of the doors like Warbonnet sells.

Can I just double hem the edges of the silnylon or do I need to run grossgrain right around it. I'm just trying to keep things simple as I'm new at this DIY stuff but quite ADDICTED

These will just be used if the rain turn's feral and blows under the ends of the tarp.

I'll only make two, I can either add one each end to a single tarp side or completly close of one tarp end with them.

No major strain on the covers and I'd use some bungie in the tie out lines just to have some give in it.

if it was me i would just hem them ...no need for the grosgrain
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold

    Either should be fine.
I would use grosgrain because it is easier for me with the binding foot on my machine.
However, roll hemming is pretty easy also.

How about a rolled hem with a serger?

I like to do a tight simple folded hem, then cover the nylon fray with folded 7/8" grosgrain. For me, it was just simplier than fighting a rolled hem, and provided the cosmetic look and strength.

Pick up a large roll though, most rolls are fairly small.

Cut it with a hot knife (you can use a soldering iron in a pinch and if you are only doing smaller cuts,) then roll the seam. My $.02.
