Does hanging actually count as doing something?

I've been hanging in the hammock quite a bit and found myself pondering whether it counts as doing something or if it's just a bunch of layin' around. I've been calling these "tests" and I feel like I'm accomplishing something. I wonder how long I can get away with these "tests" before people (the wife) start calling me a lazy bum? Isn't it outdoorsy, and by definition a sport? Granted, all my "tests" have been conducted in the yard, so no real exercise is getting done...

I think its the constant mind consuming and odd passion that counts for doing something. Whether it be switching ones suspension to whoopies, then an adjustable ridge line, going from traditional biners at 1.6oz to dutch biners at 22 grams and reversing the whoopies, or even simply research of what you need to buy to make yours system better, lighter, quicker set up, etc.

I think its the innovative engineering of making a camp system that let's us enjoy our passion to its fullest extent.

I've always said backpacking is the only sport that you may not really be a sport. Haha. Simply walking. But at times far more physically challenging than other sports. I just call it my hobby.

Does hanging actually count as doing something?
When I was in grade 2, second time around of course . . .

the nun said "Quit moving around"

To which I replied "But Sister, I caint quit moving"

    Sister "What do you mean"

I said "Even if I am as still as a stick on the ground . . .

. . . my heart is still beating and moving"

    I GOT THE STRAP . . . . . . 7 times on each hand.

    In your hammock:

By definition you are doing something . . .

    By cracky you're doing something . . .

and if you see your wife lookin out at times . . .
get out only once in a while and do an adjustment, or what would be appearing to be . . .

    You're doing something

Keep up the good work and

    Hang in there, Eh!

    To paraphrase "Notes to Myself":

"When I can lay in the hammock and calmly watch the insects crawl over the netting, I will know that I am not too ambitious."

    +2 on the mental therapy!

I have a different angle on hanging: My entire life i have had hobbies that i do active while awake, finally i have a hobby for the those "lost" 8 hours, and a hobby that i can immerse my self in for hours at the time - and even with great comfort and style

So hanging just completes my outdoor life(well my entire life actually) - now it´s all pure enjoyment when outdoors 24/7.......
