New to hammock camping from San Antonio, TX

I had the opportunity to hang a couple of times in my Dad's backyard in S.A., but never got the chance to go anywhere else while visiting there. Just wanted to say "Howdy".

There are plenty of places close to you that work. I have hung at Goliad SP, Guadalupe River SP, and Encanted Rock SNA. Lost Maples is worth the drive and hike and there are a number of others not too far. I mean come on, you're in Texas so take the 1-4 hour drive and consider it close by.

Hey, thanks for the info! I've been to most of those places but for hiking or mountain biking. I'm going to get a state park pass but can you have camp fires? I imagine the SPs are fine but what about the SNA, I would think they are more strict. As for the travel time I'm used to that after 10+ years on a motorcycle. 1-4 hours is just a short morning trip to me Lost Maples is definitely on my list as I pass by it a lot on my hill country trips. It's crazy beautiful there.
