    So far we have -

    Gumbo
    Timberrr
    MedicineMan
    Pabu (maybe)
    Johnny Walker
    Duffy
    Zukiguy (maybe)

After I scout later in the week, I'll be better able to determine the amount of space we have for hanging. There are two islands with multiple sites on them (within 1/4 mile of each other) and two other campsites that are in close proximity to each other. If it looks like we are going to need more space, I'll look at reserving more than one campsite.

My army training must be kicking in..always have a contingency plan!

    Short Boats

If I can actually make it I'll be in a 14' Necky sit-in. For gliding in/out of the mangroves that seems to be about all I can handle. There are tons of oyster bars in this area and lots of razor sharp shellfish cling to the mangrove. If you've got a composite boat or one you're just really protective of you might want to leave it at home.

My last trip in this area was piloting a 17' aluminum canoe so we just bounced over the obstacles. A couple of the scouts in the group got cut up pretty bad wading near the oyster beds though.

Luckily we're not stuck with the tent sites. The underbrush is pretty thick but I'm sure there are several places a few hammocks can squeeze in. With a bit of moderate pruning I'd bet we can make some more space.

I guess if Johnnywalker is going, you better put me on the list also. Somebody's gotta keep an eye on him. (Plus I get a free ride down!)

Should I add you tentatively to the list John?

I use the paddle. But a rudder could sure come in handy sometimes too.

If it means you will come hang/camp/paddle with us ...um...YES! I need you to bring me a boat with a rudder to try them on...

    Hike or Paddle

Yep, put me down as a maybe. I can either do the hike or paddle in March but not likely both. I'm leaning toward the hike as I'm itching to try out my new pack but the paddle is a lot closer to home. It's also somewhere I haven't been (at least that particular campsite)...and I can try out Andy's new "BotaBag".

I'd like to try a sail in the lagoon too. I'll bring a long boat for sailing and a short boat for the trail. If you want I can bring a Mirage I had shipped in from AUS...it has an integral rudder,
the 580 is also the kayak that Andrew perished in while crossing from AUS to NZ.
