I think 3/4 emt would flex too much. But if you have access to some, try it!

You can use emt for the tripods, but NOT the ridgepole.

I have made several versions of the TL Tri-pod Portable stand with 1/2 " EMT.
Most have 6' long legs. I am confident the 3/4" will work for legs.
My current favorite portable stand for car traveling is made of 36" lengths of 1/2" EMT conduit, weighs 18 pounds total with all leg and ridge pieces, and stores in a small golfing bag.
LEGS: Two 36" conduit lengths are joined with a 6" length of 5/8" wooden dowel rod ( sanded to fit snugly into the interior of the conduit) to make each 6' leg. The lower leg sections have a pin through them to stop the dowels at 3".
RIDGEPOLE: I cut the 10' chain length fence top rail into four sections. Two of the standard top rail connectors and some duct tape around the pipe ends to make the pipe fit more snugly into the connectors completes the ridgepole. The third connection is with the swag end. This ridgepole looks feeble, but serves me well. When they are under compression, the ridgepole sections are fine, but can move some in set up or when exiting the hammock. It becomes habit to check them often to resettle them. I would duct tape them or add pins to limit movement out of all the connectors if kids were going to be using the stand.
The lashings tend to slide down the conduit fairly easily. You will want to combat this.
I should practice what I preach and post photos of this stand, and the spread limiter system I use now, but posting photos confounds me of late.
BTW, I made an even lighter version of this compact stand out of re-purposed aluminum pole segments that were already swagged.
If you were willing to carry in 6' bamboo poles @3/4" diameter, using the steel chain link fence ridgepole as above, you would be at about 13 pounds.
Joyfully, TurtleLady
Clarification: In the stand described above, I used metal EMT conduit, not pvc.

made mine last night couple of issues I still need to correct. 1) my son is jealous so I have to make another one. 2) slippage at the binding points. Did you use duct tape or just electrical tape? 3) it doesn't seem to lay the same as in the woods. my parts used.
6-6' lengths of 1/2 emt cut in half and joined with couplers
1-10' length of 1 1/4 emt cut in half joined with a coupler
not very light I think I will switch the parts out with IMC (aluminum conduit)
pictures coming as soon as I figure out how to download them. once again thanks to turtlelady and all the other people for sharing thier ideas and knowledge.
p.s. My wife had a partial meltdown last night when she saw it. she said who does stuff like this? I looked at her, smiled and said I do. she also thinks I am warping our son.
here are the pictures
