    Scouted Kenosha Pass Colorado today

Looking perfect for a snowshoe/pulk/hang... was thinking early Feb.
Any Colorado Front Range Hanger's want to join me? Send me a PM for details.

Temp today 1 PM @10,000 ft was 57 degrees. Snow is packed and about 12"-15" deep.

Planned travel 1.5 to 2 miles West from the pass trail head. Hang in the tree above Baker Lake.

    This trail is calling me...lol

We used to do winter campouts there with the scouts. Had a great time pulling pulks into camps and playing in the snow. Loved the spot it is a great winter playground.

    Hi Lou,
Thanks for the info. I've lived in Co for 30 yrs and this will be my first time on this section of the Colorado Trail.
Really looking forward to it. The views from my scout of this area look spectacular.
The planned hanging spot looks out over a huge open valley. With so little snow ~12")
I am hoping to see some elk in this valley.

I have several new pieces of new camping kit I want to test.
2QZQ has made me a custom breathable UQ protector.
One I am hoping will help with heat retention in the wind.

I'm also planning to leave my trusty whitegas stove at home in lou of a Kelly Kettle Trekker and have two MinibullDesign alky stoves to test. Should be fun if there's wind.

Love the view. The inches of snow we got last week melted after 2 days

Was hoping for a few sunny days. Not looking to set any cold hang records.

Will reschedule as soon as the weather breaks.

Finely a break in the weather. Going to try this trip again. Sun-Weds
    Have several new pieces of equipment to test;
    KK trekker with alky stove
Minibulldesign Bios #4 side jet. Going to see if one can really melt enough snow for water using an alky stove.
    40 Below Nalgene bottle cozy
    2QZQ breathable under quilt protector
Lg Compressor stack converted to bishop bag for hammock/w straps, UQ, UQP, BBO
    GrizBeak and tarp panel pulls
Lots of different types of line to finely figure out the best tarp tyouts for deep snow
Same with tent pegs in snow.
Couple new knives to play with. Need practice batoning.
2 whoopies in place of a CRL
    Couple different candle lanterns
Going to finely take/risk my Nikon D300 & a couple lenses winter hanging in place of the click box.
This will be my second trip using the shug inspired Pulk. A first for bushwacking in 2' of snow with it.

Should be fun, lots to keep me busy.
