I need to join a loop of 1/8" shockcord to one end of a 2mm cord. What is the best knot for this - something that ends up small and won't snag? In the pic, the end marked "A" goes to some hardware. The other 3 ends need joining. Thanks.

Check out the Albright knot on this animated link. It's a fishing knot but I think it should work well to attach shock cord to regular line. I haven't used it yet but I was planning to, so please let me know how it works for you.

Good luck!

First, close your loop with a fisherman's bend...a single will work just fine with shock cord.
Then form a bight with the sc loop, and attach the 2mm cord with the Albright linked above.
There are no snag free knots, sorry to say.

hi,
personally, I'd use only a a double fisherman's bend but treating the two rope end on the left as one... it's strong and simple

why should I have a rock, a root or anything else hurting my back in camping?
Thanks for the responses. I guess I can go with the double fisherman's bend, but it is pretty massive when tied! I might experiment with whipping the 3 ends and then using heat-shrink tubing over all that. My application requires a rather smooth, minimal connection.
