    What are the best scales?

Every time I complete any diy project, I get asked how much the thing weighs. I've tried to find some scales at Harbor Freight and online, but what should I be looking for and where can I find it/them?

Cost is certainly a factor as well. I'd like something that won't break the bank and with a display that's easy to read.

Care to give me some hints?

    Thanks

I bought a cheap (about $20) digital scale at Office Depot. Big numbers and goes to 5lbs. It measures to the hundredths of an ounce.

Oh that's good. I've got an Office Depot (dd3 used to call it "Beepo") nearby. So it's just ounces that're important? And then you convert to grams, etc.?

Grams don't scare me; it's only the first two numbers on the scale that I pay any attention to anyway. It's a pretty good scale, even has a 'flap' on the top that you can open and use to support larger items like say an underquilt.

Hmmm... thanks! I'll have to head over there tomorrow evening (beepo!), and then weigh everything I own all weekend...

This is the newer version, I guess. It uses increments of 0.1oz. and seems to cost a little bit more than I remember. I guess that's the new wave; give less, charge more!

That helps. Thanks for the link. I couldn't find one for 20.00 either.

I bought mine from Ebay for about $20 shipped. Weighs up to 35lbs and has been a great scale so far. The only thing that I would do different is to get a scale that has the display separate from the weighing platform. Sometimes when I have something large on the scale, I can't see the display. The scale I have will lock the weight into the display for a few seconds after the item is removed so you can still read it, but I would rather have the separate display.
