    Black Bishop Bag

Is there a source to buy a Black Bishop bag large enough for an ENO DB, Mt Washington 3, and a Hudson River? If so, would it be a good idea to use a BB bag for all three?

    Thanks!!!

i'm probably working my way towards this. take all the fuss out of camp. arrive, open bag, hang hammock, align UQ, done...

just jeff was the member who turned me on to the idea...

i'd just figure out what size you need and poke a hole in the stuff sack with a hot knife. run a strap from your hammock through it and you're done!

i'm not sure but arrowhead sells some sort of hammock bag, but i don't think it's big enough for what you're trying to do

a quick way to make one is to first find a suitable size stuff sack that meets your requirements(size, color, weight, material). available from a bunch of places.

melt a whole in the bottom large enough that your suspension can fit through comfortably. the one i made as an all-n-one bag has a hole about the size of a #2 pencil melted thru one of the corners of the bottom. i made it by heating a piece of copper, water supply tubing (like for ice maker) about 1/4". hold the bag over a cup or empty soup can so that you will not melt any where else, unintentionally, when the hot metal pierces the bottom of the bag. i heated the copper with a lit candle. use some pliers to hold the branding iron, it red hot.

let it cool, stuff it up and hit the woods.

Wags beat me...i type even slower when i'm sleepy.

Thanks for the suggestion, Wags... I will do that... I guess the only way to answer "is it a good idea" is do it and see if it will fit logically into my backpack!!!

To help get it to fit in your pack look at the compressor bags.

For this cold weather camping, I've used the military surpluss black compression bag from the Modular Sleep System (MSS)
    http://www.hankssurplus.com/index.ph...tuff-sack.html
Sewed in a long (3 inches or so) rectangular "stress" zone and then used a hot knife to open it up.
With the mods I did on the ENO DN (I sewed an external pocket on it for a ccf pad) and I've used a MSS patrol bag with the Gore-Tex bivy cover for a UQ , and a poncho liner for a TQ and it all fits quite well.

Look around on E-Bay and you can find them pretty cheap sometimes.

    Some Thoughts

I love the function of HH snakeskins. Problem is when you start adding a UC and OC a pad... it would be nice to have snakeskins large enough.

Reading all this it makes sense that a compression sack/bishops bag would be a great idea. I don't like the thought of poking a hole in one (wouldn't it start to tear or fray) but wonder if a grommet would work.

    Hmm...
