My cousin and I are big elk hunters. We were looking at doing some backcountry hunts. And trying to go as light as possible. We have looked at the Eagles Nest One Link ProLite. And some of the Hennessy stuff. We will be hunting around the 1st to the middle of September in Colorado, Wyoming, and maybe, hopefully Utah. Does this foot the bill you think. Also do we need an uderquilt you think and how heavy of a sleeping bag? Looking for everybody's opinion. Thank you.
I purchased a HH Deep jungle AsymXL zip. I use a Big Agnes 0 degree bag called a Whiskey Park, with the blue pad.(-30) It would be over kill for Sept, But I'd rather be 2 warm than 2 cold. This particular hammock comes with it's own pad which slides inbetween the double bottom of the Hammock which is a nice feature. That's my 2 cents.

Here's a good place to start.
I'm a cold sleeper so I find that I require heavier insulation than some of the other people here. For me, 3 season quilts are good down to about 40 degrees F, then I have to pull out the winter stuff. I've got a Hennessy and am using the Supershelter for the UQ and a JRB Nest as a top quilt. The 0 degree sleeping bag gets used and the Nest adds insulation to the bottom side when things get colder. HYOH.

Test your gear near home to work out the bugs.
Make sure your happy with it before heading out.
I'd suggest a good sleeping bag or topquilt.
Your choice on the pad(s) and or underquilt.
I'd also suggest an additional tarp for a dining/gear drying area. One for the hammock and one for the gear.
Are you car camping or hiking back in?

Colorado can throw all kind's of weather at you in Sept from 80 degree to 2 ft of snow depending on your elevation. Come prepared.
I like fishpigs suggestions on hammock and equipment. A big winter tarp might be in order as well.
Personally I think the hammock system is THE way to go for hunters.
For versatility, if you might have to sleep on the ground, I'd go pad vs. underquilt
Make sure you know what r-rating your pad has
Id' carry a space blanket or two in case it gets colder than expected, it has multiple uses ad can easily add 5-10 degrees on your insulation system, so I've read
I'd also get a large tarp, one that you can enclose yourself in, like a tarp tent. This should handle any weather you encounter and can be setup to accomodate all conditions.

Hammock camping is the direction I have gone primarily for hunting.
Most spots I hunt there is an awful lot of tree's and un-flat ground.
Finding a good tent spot in the bush has always been a thorn in my side affair.
