Bell Wedge Tent Winter Hammocking Smoke House

I'm such a goob! I just ordered a Bell Wedge Tent from Midwest Tents. The plan is to augment it so I can use it with my gathered-end hammock as my winter camping Smoke House.

First up, I need to add some slits for my hammock rigging and a stove boot. The idea is to have it usable for hammocking, but not lose any of its functionality as a regular tent, in the event I need to lend it to one of my friends who likes to attend Ren Faires.

Heh heh. (crossing fingers) Wish me luck!

Of course, I will post videos of the adaptation process, but if any of you have any early ideas on potential mods, speak now! I'd love to hear 'em!

Kayt, I have a wedge I use with my hammocks, and I just love the thing. I'll be watching your project with interest.

Are you going to hang from the two main poles? What is the weight of that tent. Good luck.

You know?... I don't know the weight, but I'm only using it in the winter with my pulk. I can't imagine it'll be more than other standard wedge tents. I thought I'd try both hanging from poles (though, I'm not sure there is enough room at only 10 feet apart) and without. For Ren Faires, I'll have my truck, so I can take my stand, if need.

I do need to fireproof the fabric, too. I got some spray on stuff from our local Mill End Fabric store.

Have no experience but allot of interest. I've been spending allot of time on Wintertrekking.com and designing in my head how to fit a hammock and hot tent together. Will be watching to see how things go . Good luck
