North Sylamore Creek Trail, Jan 29 2011

Hi folks, we scheduled a return trip to North Sylamore Creek near Mountain View AR last weekend and had a blast. We started hiking at Blanchard Springs recreation area and moseyed exactly about nine miles to Barkshed recreation area. It then continues on from there about 13 miles to connect with the Ozark Highlands Trail, which is something that I'd like to do one of these days.

I took a Stickpic and tried my hand at recording some video of the trip:

Clearly I need to cultivate my video production skills. You guys raise the bar pretty high around here

My wife asleep in her hammock. Somehow she kicked the underquilt out from underneath her during the night and froze for a while. I saw it hanging off to one side in the morning when I woke up and fixed it for her. That's my hammock off to the back behind the tree. Sadly, that's it for the hammock pictures for this trip.

Here's Samba the dog drinking out of the creek. He was a good boy

The other side of what Samba was drinking out of

A waterfall chute that would have been great to see after a rain

Thanks for checking it out. I feel the OHT calling my name now.

SWEET hike! And nice terrain, too! Not too bad a job with the PicStick, either - I just got one, and will be playing with it. Looks like the pup had a fun walk, as well! I would love to see leaves again - they are currently under about 63" of snow (and another 20 coming the next two days!)

Nice area, thanks for the pics/video!

Thanks for the video. Hard for me to imagine walking in a t-shirt at the moment but then in a few months time it will be doable. That looked like one of many tree fungi to me , see them all the time up here.

Thanks! It's a lot of fun to use and it helps do away with the "Myspace angle". I need to practice keeping the lens focused properly and speaking loud enough for the microphone to pick it up.

It wouldn't normally be t-shirt time down here either, but the weather was being unseasonably cooperative last weekend. I was wearing shorts because I forgot the zip-off pant legs in the car, so that was cold.

Thanks guys for letting me know for sure what that was. I knew it wasn't a hornet's nest that somebody had taken the time and effort to saw in half, but I got to thinking, what if somebody really did that?
