Not used to this cold, 14 degrees or so. I have clothing to handle it though.
Drug out the Sorel Pacs, Cabelas Gortex down parka, fleece balaclava, Greek baklava (I'm hungry) and assorted long underwear/gloves etc...
Gonna play outside with the 11 yr. old twins that that are having a blast with the novelty of it all "daddy, look at that HUGE icicle on the house!" I was a kid once, or twice, actually *I'm just a child that's grown old. We here in North Central Texas are experiencing Rolling Black-outs. I can't remember that ever happening before. They have threatened to during the peak summer
Air Conditioning blitz, don't think they actually have though. We are gonna fire up the old Kelly Kettle for some Hot Chocolate for the Kids and Hot Buttered Rum for Mrs. JP and Myself. All in all it's been sort of a long Robert W. Service moment.

Records? I don't need no stinkin records! Besides, with the way that you layer you can handle anything.

You can count on Alan though. He's much less of a smart aleck.

Awesome sandpiper! Looks like a few of us south Texas folks are testing equipment during the cold snap.

Gear list has changed slightly. Instead of a top quilt, I've draped a NASA space blanket over the ridgeline and added a CCF foot pad. I'm in jeans, cotton socks, undershirt, and a thin hoodie jacket. It's 4:30pm CST and temp gauge already shows 33*. Supposed to hit 20* in Houston by 6am. It will be colder than that where I live (30 miles north of Houston) but I have to be at work by 6am. Drats!

I want to test the NASA space blanket to see how much heat it retains and reflects back to me inside the hammock.

Is that NASA space blanket the same as the "All Weather Blanket" by Grabber? If so I just picked one up on line, arrived Monday...still in the package...

    Ready for sleepy time...

How much do these "space blankets" weigh?
And are they more durable than the mylar foil "emergency" blankets?
