Thought about it, didn't do it...
Had to work today and sleep was more important than testing the limits of my diy uq...this weekend is looking though...
Luck and have fun
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !
My ridge line thermometer registered a low of 16.3 in College Station last night.
I didn't spend the entire night out, (never planned to do more than a few hours), but learned that my set up of just a DAM under me and a JRB No Snivler over me along with a top cover, hex tarp, and layered clothing gets me into the upper teens comfortably.
There was a recent thread about Down Air Mattresses and I realized I had not used mine in some time so I thought I would check it out and it did great.
I may give it another go tonight or later this week with either JRB Nest, Yeti, or IX... ...
... I've given myself too many choices.
Let out of work early today due to no water and rolling blackouts throughout the district. Time to go hang my gear in the backyard and prepare for some testing!
I believe in layers too: shirt, sweater, jacket, house.
KM(stole that actually but it fits here, so..)
Not used to this cold, 14 degrees or so. I have clothing to handle it though.
Drug out the Sorel Pacs, Cabelas Gortex down parka, fleece balaclava, Greek baklava (I'm hungry) and assorted long underwear/gloves etc...
Gonna play outside with the 11 yr. old twins that that are having a blast with the novelty of it all "daddy, look at that HUGE icicle on the house!" I was a kid once, or twice, actually *I'm just a child that's grown old. We here in North Central Texas are experiencing Rolling Black-outs. I can't remember that ever happening before. They have threatened to during the peak summer
Air Conditioning blitz, don't think they actually have though. We are gonna fire up the old Kelly Kettle for some Hot Chocolate for the Kids and Hot Buttered Rum for Mrs. JP and Myself. All in all it's been sort of a long Robert W. Service moment.
