Got out for the weekly hike again on Sunday, it was a nice day; 40 degrees Celsius. 5k’s each way to a rest area in the Berowra area near Sydney’s northern suburbs.
On arrival at the rest area I noted that the camp site had been left in the exactly the same manor that a smaller sight nearby had been the week before – I wondered if it was the same people? Ground dwellers by the look of things. It’s good to see people taking so much care the area, even if they are from the “other side”
A tripod for the pack to hang, set up the hammock and a cup of coffee so in order so the MBD bongo and wide mouth was in fine form. The fuel I’m using is mentholated spirits which tends to deliver some soot; the can has had about 5 boils without clean in the shot below.
As I kicked back with my feet up (foot line method) I heard the sounds of something in the leaves. It was my new mate “Lizard”. He gave me a bit of a surprise to start off, not sure if he was really a big lizard or a goanna? Anyway, he hung around for a bit, run up a tree and back down before continuing his afternoon hike.
I packed up and headed off myself shortly after. Mostly fire trails on this week’s walk so nothing too tough in the heat.
Nice to get out, anyway you can!
