    Tarp Doors

I have been wondering now that I see most people with doors on there tarps, how do you calculate the size that they need to be? I know that when I hang I almost always hang different than the time before for multiple reasons. So how do you insure that you can set up the same way each time so that the doors work properly?

I hung my tarp and mocked some up out of an old cut up sheet. Others used newspaper.

I was wondering the same, just figured you try to hang it the same. I was also wondering how are the doors attached? Velco/zippers/sewn on?

A 10x12 tarp is big enough to use the end corners as doors.

Agree - I use the DD 3 x 3 I use the tie-out points 1/4 and 3/4 along the side to pull the tarp wide and then the end ones to pull across as doors.

i'd hesitate to agree with that statement. i don't use doors on my tarps (occasionally i'll pack a grizz beak), but for most conditions that i see they are simply extra weight in the pack that i don't need.

the people you see posting videos and pictures right now are in the dead of winter, when you need doors the most. they are in these categories for the most part:

a: sleeping in their backyard - testing stuff out
    b: car camping
c: a very limited few (crazies usually from minnesota or new england ) who are actually out backpacking and staying out multiple nights...

i don't fit into any of those categories. my style of hammocking is 3+ season backpacking. personally i'd rather sleep in my king size bed w/ my gf and beagle than in the backyard in a hammock. car camping for me is not enjoyable. backpacking in single digits would be ok, but i haven't found anyone to go with me and i don't feel it's safe for me to do solo yet (inexperienced).

so before you sew doors onto your tarp, think about how you plan to use it most often...

    here's a grizz beak photo

Thanks wags the Grizz beak looks to be what I want because I don't plan on sewing anything to my tarp as of yet, but the way you suggested would allow me to do so as needed thanks!
