“Republics are created by the virtue, public spirit, and intelligence of the citizens. They fall when the wise are banished from the public councils because they dare to be honest, and the profligate are rewarded because they flatter the people, in order to betray them.” ~Judge Joseph Story

IMPOSSIBLE JUST TAKES LONGER
backcountrygear.com also sells the SMC rings. Might be cheaper to combine shipping with your biners.
Thanks. I subscribed to the following thread so I could review and understand the geometry better:

Broke a hammock this fall due to bad geometry myself. Built a "ring buckle prototype" out of some junk from the local hardware store and this forum. Used SS rings, nylon webbing that slipped (knew poly was better but there were no labels on the spools), ran the webbing back through the loops and then pulled WAY TOO TIGHT!!!. I wanted to be flat and push the limit. Had this all rigged up on one of those old "green webbed hammocks" from the last century (around the '80s). POP!!! POP!!! POP!!!. I had an air mattress underneath and climbed back in three times to observe the lessened amount of hang time as each subsequent line broke.
Maybe when the biosteel get's here I can build one like that.
Hints are always welcome.
Thanks. Great suggestion. I'm going with the mini spool in order to tie a ridgeline and have some extra for one of my friends.
I was getting way to obsessed with some mil-t and thread. Can't even find it anymore. Tensile strength seems a good gauge. Hard to gauge that walmart stuff at home.
re: thread quality.
