No blisters here - Am I doing something wrong?

Someone suggested floral wire - I bought a roll of it in 24 GA and it works like a charm. I have been splicing 1.75 Zing It by cutting only one yarn an inch from the end for a taper. Made a CRL with a loop on one end, a bury on the other and four prussic loops. No blisters!

can you bury 1.75 lash it? Help!!

    Yes!
I found a round point shovel and loose dirt helps in the bury! Frustration solved!

(as others have mentioned----small wire to use a a fid)

I never tapered any of the smaller lines I used.

One trick that helps whether you taper or not is to turn the tail back towards the standing part so it helps shoehorn it in. Kinda like a funnel.

Like all things hammocks... once you get it, it's easy. I'll leave the DIY UQ out of that statement. Thanks for the help all. check out my lash-it whoopie to shock cord.

This is what I did too when making continuous loops out of 1.75. You really need to wrap the other end of the guitar string around a dowel or something though to pull the bury through. I garroted my fingers pretty badly before figuring this out. It helps to "taper" the end you are burying by taking out a few strands half an inch from the end.

I have found braided masons line strong enough for tie outs. I think it would do fine as a prussic on a CRL. Its worth a try but I believe that stretch would be the biggest drawback. I tried to use it as a SRL in my DIY HH Clone. Defeated the purpose of a SRL with all the stretch it had.

I read about one guy on here that managed to splice braided mason line. Now that is some really thin line to do that on.

    Cheers

I splice the braided mason line all the time to make prototypes and check lengths and such things. I use a curved upholstery needle that i straightened out and rounded the point a little bit on and it works like a charm.

My tool of choice for splicing small line is a piece of doubled 24 gauge wire. (aka Cat 6 network cable) I pulled out a wire from a spool I have and stripped the insulation off...

I've spliced braided mason's line quite a bit, even made a whoopie sling for fun...

A lit magnafier or +2.00 reading glasses are a must-have... That and cut out the coffee before braiding.....
