What packeagle said... Mason's line is plenty strong, just make sure you buy BRAIDED mason's line... the twisted stuff isn't durable.

The stretch factor on such a small length shouldn't be a big deal. YMMV

Now if Home Depot carried Polyester Braided Mason's line...

i made some 5" nacrabiners, from braided mason's line, to use as "prusik biners" for my tarp to ridgeline connections. my ridgeline is Lash-it with buried loops in each end.

The stuff I've found at Home Depot is Nylon, which stretches... Polyester wouldn't...

The only mason's line Home Depot or Lowe's sells here is three strand twisted nylon. And it is rather poor quality for uses other than mason's line. For those with the same problem as me, look in the fishing dept. of your local sporting good store and you can find braided nylon trot line in various sizes.

My local home depot had Braided Mason's line in day-glo yellow:

    $7, 500'...

I was splicing some Zing-it for my new tarp over the past couple of days. All I can say is that Opie could kill Chuck Norris with his Kevlar fingertips!

I've found that if you have more than 1/16" you have way too much line.

Here, you have to go to two different aisles to find all that stuff.
