Nice technique for adding shock cord to lash it.

I haven't seen this technique. I hope you all like it. The form can be changed but this one is about 12 in of shock cord attatched to a whoopie on both sides. The interesting part is the way they are connected like a stop loop on a whoopie. I removed some of the rubber from the ends and did the figure eight bury at both ends. much cleaner, smaller, and lighter than using a piece of slingshot cord. Just takes a lil' time. I've made two that have shock cord in the middle, lash it on each end with a static loop. perfect for tie outs for my hammock so I can still get some swing.

Beading plyers! once you peal back the sheathing a lil you can work it enough to get a pinch with your fingers. Step on one end and stretch the rubber, then the sheathing will slide down. Snip it and milk the sheathing back up, the rubber inside will snap into it leaving something that looks like hollow paracord. I use a yarn needle to open up my holes. the rest is just like making a static loop without the loop. Tedious but it shur is purty!!

    Questions

What's the diameter of the shock cord? 3/32"? How long were the pieces that you cut off? How many strands of rubber were removed? How many remain? What are the lengths of the buries? The tails shown in the pictures are part of the whoopies on each end, not part of the lash-it to shock cord splice, right?

    whoa!!
1st question, I have no idea (can't ever remember where I Donner'd it It's slightly larger than the 1.75... about the same after the rubber is removed.
2nd, 3rd questions. All strands at full stretch were about 4" long. after the snip (circumcisions. Half off!!) they left about 2" + of sheathing
4th. about 1' on the buries.
5th/6th. Yes those are the tails. Just a prototype.

1st question. Do you like it?
