Hey - I'm a west-coaster (also close to Vancouver). Very very very new to hanging...like so new I haven't actually tried it yet because I just received my first hammock YESTERDAY! but just aching to hang it up to try (although I did hang it in my kitchen between two chairs and fantasized about laying in it)! Other than that I have all the rest of the basic gear to get my started!

Another Canadian hanger here, I am the only hammock hanger in Newfoundland.
I'm in Edmonton. Might be on the coast for a bit in July. I'm definitely taking my hammock with me.

Don't give up. There are a few of us here, and some scattered down in WA. I am sure a hang could be arranged. Me, alas I am booked for most of my vacation days until fall (motorcydle tript to WA< ID, MT, SD, WY, CO, UT, AZ and back in June. Woot!).
Come fall, I'd be interested in a weekend hang somewhere.
It might just be me . . . and I'm not generally a conspiracy theorist . . . but . . .
I believe that the Government of Newfoundland,
have a vested interest in promoting tent camping,
via . . . the elimination of any Hammock talk/endorsement.
You see sleeping on the ground has a certain connection to historic Newfoundland.
