Hanging in the SW 'burbs of Chicago

Hello, all! Tourezrick (or, just Rick, if that works better for you) I'm 62, former Special Education teacher in Chicago, former owner of a camp specializing in children's outdoor education, former Karate instructor (Sandan, WaDoKi), former sportscar racer (Alfa Romeo, Corvette, Mk. 1b McLaren). I now live to be outdoors, as I have over 8000 acres of forest preserve nearby, either hiking with my buds, or riding recumbent bikes with them, or looking at the stars. If I'm not doing one of those, I'm hard at work making my wife wish I was! Although she was a Girl Scout Camp Director (Windigo, Wis.) and led camping canoe trips along the Wisconsin River, she now considers Holiday Inn to be roughing it. Hope I can learn here, as I am a tent convert and hopefully offer something to you all in return.

    Welcome!

My ex lives in Bensenville, but I won't tell hear about you.

Anyway, welcome to this little enclave of maladroits, misfits and malcontents. We sure do have an entertaining time here!

Welcome to the HF. I spend a lot of time down in Palos FP romping around. Great place to practice setting up the hammock. In the future, if you would like, we could meet up for a hike. Think I may head down this morning for a little snowshoeing. Let me know if I can help in any way. When getting started, things can be a little confusing.
