Revision 2 Custom Undercover for my Winter UQ made by 2QZQ

This is a continuation of the breathable custom under quilt cover 2QZQ made for me that was posted here:
    http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=27649

With input from BlazeAway, Shug, pizza and several others modification and improvements were made to this UQ protector.
Below are some picts of the improved design. Hope you enjoy them.

My lovely wife volunteered to lay in the hammock so I could adjust the end attachments, side tensioners and photograph the results.

Head end attachment. For now I’m using S biners at the gathered ends. I found the UQP seals best if you gather the ends as tight as they will go then knot the shockcord with a small loop to stretch over the end of the hammock. I am using a S biner since everything is black and you would not be able to see the attachment.

    Foot End attachment.

Snugging up the side tensioners. Very hard to see but in the middle there is spring clip that allows you to adjust the tension of the mini shockcord.

    UQP snugged up under shelf

Asked wife to really jam her feet into the foot box to see what the UQP would do.

On the four corners Donna has attached these little loops which really helps to keep the seal around the hammock.

I am really pleased with how this QU Protector came together and can’t wait to test it out in the field.

    Materials:
    Breathable 1.1 ripstop nylon.
    Shockcord gathered ends.
    Mini shockcord adjustable side gathers.

I can't thank Donna @ 2QZQ enough for making this for me.

I have/will be making these for several people to use and review. We will be selling these when we get our new site up and running. This should happen within a week or two. We will be offering them in several colors. We will post on HF when they are available. Thanks, ZQ

OutandBack, Nice write up and pics. That looks like a good fit. How much room is there between the hammock and the UQ cover at the bottom? I am curious if a winter UQ would fit or is it more for a summer or 3S UQ?

I made one for 2Q before I sent the revised one to OutandBack. He hung it underneath his snug fit UQ and it fit great. You can adjust how tight it hangs with the shock cord at each end. We are changing the design of the silnylon ones we make to be made the same way as these revised ones. We will keep y'all posted. ZQ

    Hi MuseJr,
I am using a Stormcrow built Winter phoenix. It lofts about 5" below the hammock.

The UQP does not compress it at all. With the end shockcords you can custom adjust the UQP distance from the UQ.

Note: It works best if you have someone lay in the hammock to make your adjustments then everything is hanging correctly.
For me, once I found the length of shockcord I needed I removed the s-biners, tied permanent knots and trimmed the excess.
When storing, it stuffs in a 3"x6" stuff sack with my Griz Beak. Very small very light.
