Mike - The Icebreaker stuff is pretty pricey, especially for being made in China, but otherwise they seem to be pretty enviro-conscious. There are other companies that are getting on board the wool bandwagon. Can you recommend any other merino-ware companies?
I swear by it! I had soaked boots and Smartwool mid-hiker socks one evening late in October and not only were my feet warm, but when I pulled off the sock, it left my feet dry!

Haha That was my next guess. The columns are darker in Petra than Ephesus, I should have known.Awesome place and glad you made it there. Some would say that a Foster's pot is the Holy grail of camping gear.
