    Cuben tarp....side pull outs?

I've ordered a cuben tarp from zpacks. 11 x 8.5 x 9 (I requested 2 ft extra on the bottom edge than his normal hammock tarp). Joe V. has been great to work with, and corresponded several times back and forth with me over the past few days discussing what I wanted with this tarp.

Once ordered, Joe V. sent me and email stating it will be approx. 6 weeks before delivery and that I can make changes up to the ship date no problem. He asked if I wanted the side pull outs?

I was thinking that since cuben doesn't strech, like silnylon, that this would not be necessary. I wouldn't think it would blow in towards me, but rather hold it's place. My tarp will have 3 ties outs on the bottom edge - one on each corner, and one in the center. Anyone, who has a cuben tarp, have any thoughts on this?

My intentions with this tarp is for it to be apart of my "fast pack". My very light spring/summer/fall load. I have the Superfly with doors for winter hammocking.

    Input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have a cuben tarp from Joe and I ordered it with the side tie outs. They make it roomier when the sides are pitched steep and low to the ground.

I also just ordered from z pack Joe made it real simple. I got mine 11 X 8.5 X 13 with side pull outs. I figured with a tarp this size even with cuben the side pull outs would make it roomier as well as really allow me to hunker down in bad weather. You can go wrong either way but I look at is as this. The side pull outs add such a minimal amount off weight (were talking grams here) that for my style of pack packing I am ok with. It really depends how UL you are trying to go, gram counter or not.
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.
