Question Multi-layer IX "quilt" between layers in WB Traveler?

I have a WB traveler, and some IX material, and was wondering if I made a simple multiple layer quilt from the IX and put it between the layers of the Traveler, if that would give me significant thermal gain underneath me, or if the IX would compress sufficiently to lose its effectiveness.

    Thanks,

    Jamie - nfa

IX doesn't work well in direct contact, it needs some "airspace" between layers to work properly, how ever if you sandwiched a layer between the layers of IX it might work(i haven't tried this).

I wonder if a layer of fleece above or between the IX would give enough loft to keep it working in the double layer?

I have enough IX for about 4 body-length layers, and wanted to make a simple underbody heatloss preventative...since my WB traveler is basically a cold-weather hammock, I wonder about tacking it to the underside of the WB, with non-overlapping attachment points on each layer...

I don't see why that would not work as long as it is not compressing the IX.
You would need to check the compression(esp in the butt area) when lying in the hammock. Adding a bottom layer of breathable nylon would also help block the wind and hold in more heat.

I've been thinking about it during work today, and am now wondering about some sort of hybrid sock/peapod with a couple of layers of IX top and bottom that cinches up around the hammock...

I was gonna say the same thing....Great minds think alike...
Maybe even velcro for more options?
We would be one step closer to world peace, if everyone slept in a hammock..
