Yeah, kinda the way my Daddy described it. An island of something in the middle of a lot of something else.

That's my Hammock setup, an oasis in the middle of nowhere. My little cocoon of comfort when I'm out there. My Island...
I'm gonna" see if I can get out there with ya'll ... just picked up a new contract in Bradenton, so I'm not sure what my scheduling will be at this time, I'm hangin' in the yard tonight in my Clark Ultralight under my MYOG $5.00 silnylon tarp, testing it out ...

If the tree's are mostly cypress, it's a cypress dome. If mostly Bay Tree's, it's a Bay Head. My favorite is the Cabbage Palm Hammock, parklike under cabbage palms over storied with large hardwoods.
Here is another pic. In short, palmetto scrub with larger trees interspersed. It often is a sort of high spot (sometimes measured in miles) on the edge of lower wetter land. At least this is what is most commonly called hammock where I live.

If that's a threat all I ask is please don't kick the olddog. Back in the Navy I had to deal with men that thought Florida was coconut palms & sand beaches. In my opinion this is some of the best of the Florida wilderness.
Oh, I forgot to mention the redbugs, chiggers, mosquitos, snakes, gators, wild boar & skunkman.
Does anyone live near Tamp or St. Petersburg that's planning on attemdiing?
This might be possible for me to attend. Now that the details are finalized I can get to checking out flights through Alegiant airlines.
I like big hammocks - I cannot like.
