Hanging at PA Ruck

Hey all,

I've recently found out that I can go to the PA Ruck in a couple of weeks. It's at Pine Grove Furnace State Park. When I hiked through there in '06 I stayed at the Iron Master's, I didn't check out the campground.

My question, is the Campground hanging friendly?

Anyone else going to be there?

well if you have the money I would suggest a quick trip to Lowes or whoever and pick up enough pipe sections etc. for a hammock stand - its what i use when I have to camp in a campground just to be sure I have a good hang - you would also need two pipe wrenches to take it apart when you are done - if you pick the sizes right you can fit a pipe hammock stand in the trunk of just about any car - with sections no longer than 4 feet the stand I have fits in the trunk of a Civic coupe.

I just hiked through there 2 weeks ago. I stayed on the trail and didn't really see the campground but I think it is intended for RV and camper use more than car campers so there isn't as much wooded area. I know the trail for a mile north and south is not hammock friendly because you are either in a "no camping area" state park or on a road that goes though some summer cabins. Shakey Legs, who I haven't heard anything from lately, lives right by there I believe.

I will be at Mt Rogers that weekend unless there is a large amount of snow in VA that weekend. Than I might go to PA ruck
