a WBer who got some MYOG

My wife made me a sil-nylon hammock, I also have a sil 5x8 tarp.

Never hanged before and not really sure what to do with them, so I'm here to learn.

For sleeping I have a BA self inflater (Hinman mummy pad), a couple of BA Aircores, a few CCF pads. I also use a Golite 40deg down quilt or a BA Ranger 15 deg bag.

No suspension system or UQ yet.

Your wife rocks! Welcome to HF. As far as what to do with your hammock setup, search on here for Shug's videos which will help you tremendously. And you'll have a few laughs. Seems like you're off to a good start and like most things, it's all personal preference. That said, here's what I do.

I have a DIY whipped-end hammock that I larks head a piece of amsteel rope to (it's about 6" long) and that goes up to a biner. From the biner, I have another piece of amsteel made in to a whoopie sling (again, search and ye shall find on HF) that goes up to a toggle in a marlin spike hitch around 1" polyester webbing. Confused yet? I'll stop there and let that sink in. Search around here, check out some pictures of how other people set up their rigs, try it out on your own and then tweak your setup as you see fit. There are a lot of knowledgeable people on here who can give you better advice than I.

Best of luck and again, welcome to HF!
