    Snow

Just a couple of pictures from last weeks snow. I need to work on my tarp hanging skills but other than that it was great. 20 something below zero(my thermo froze) and I was comfortable. Used my 1 inch thermorest and the new Neo with just a little air in it. I cheated and used a pillow from the bed, I used that and my jacket for the cold spots.

The worst part was going inside the house, no heat, power or water and just as cold as outside!

Looks like a good hanging spot.
For that much snow it looks like your tarp held up pretty well.

no heat, power or water and just as cold as outside!- Did you have a power outage?

Great setup! Sorry that your house got so cold. I hope your pipes are all right.

We only lost power for one day, I got my gas back yesterday. Were lucky to get a few drops of rain a year let alone snow. At one point the radio said we were at 28 below. The normal temps are low 30's at night to upper 60 in the day.

Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

The tarp is one of the American made Superflys. Great tarp but I can't figure out the side pull outs. I think there too high but I'm new at this.

The attachment point for the side pullouts should be elevated, such as a tree or a hiking pole, otherwise it creates an effect like you're seeing where it pulls the ridgeline down and affects the tautness of the other tieouts.

I agree with this statement. I also learned this the same way as you, it didn't make sense. But after seeing several other pics using trekking poles and trees. . . EUREKA ! Works great !

That does make sense and your picture illustrates it nicely. Perhaps the optimal tie-out would be 90 degrees to the tarp face.
