Thanks for the info. This sounds like a project I might be able to do. I'm thinking cork rings for the handle, carbon fiber for the staff and some thread wrap below the cork or maybe logo under epoxy...

OK, I have emailed and asked for pricing and the weight, if I have not heard back by lunch, I will try to call. As for the group buy, I wondering if it will be easier to maybe get the group pricing from them and have each person contact them for payment and shipping info, as me trying to receive and reship the 51" poles might end up costing more, since I am sure they have a more economical way of shipping them than I can find.

Anyway, I will post an update when I get more info.

I'm interested, too. A group buy would certainly benefit Goodwinds because it would greatly simplify shipping. However, it passes the complexity of shipping along to us, so whoever manages the group buy has his work cut out for him. Best would be regional distribution at group hangs, but that would only be a partial solution. When I bought 4' x 1/8" carbon fiber tubing, it came in a box 50" x 5" x 5" - lots of extra space. Boxes and mailing tubes from places like Uline run $2 to $3 each, but you have to buy in quantity (15 for boxes and 50 for tubes).

I have some other carbon tubes I want to get, so I'd be willing to get poles for others if I can deliver them either at MAHHA in April or Hot Springs in May.

I haven't called Goodwinds yet, but I assume the "variable ID of .1" to .12", from one end to the next" is actually wall thickness, not ID.

Depending on the logistics, I might be willing to handle a group buy. Just have to see how to handle the re-shipping once I received them.

    Goodwinds, not Kiteworks

I meant to refer to Goodwinds in my earlier post. Kiteworks is a place I once got spectra lines from. I'm not sure they're still in business.

    poles

Count me in if the price is right.
I have a retail business and can handle re-distribution and credit card transactions if needed for a group purchase. WIll have to check package/postage charges.

here is a link to their page of carbon tubes; I'm guessing the ski poles might be less than these?
