I am thinking of switching back to the walmart blue ccf pad. Should I cut it in half and arrange it in a "T"? Should I augment it with another pad? Should I leave it alone?
BTW: I'm 6'3", use a claytor clone, and hammock only 40 deg and above.

I use mine as is and I am 290 lbs and 6ft2
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !
I've cut mine to a length of maybe 5 ft. (I'm 4-6 inches taller than that), and I angle it across my HH backpacker asym, from right side at the head to left-ish side at the foot, avoiding the entry slot. I backpack in the summer, and I've found that carrying another pad or parts of another pad is overkill.
I did something with mine the other night after noticing how stiff it was. On one side I marked diagonal grid pattern, the width of a yard stick, then scored the marks 1/4" deep. Seems to make it somewhat more flexible but haven't really tested it out yet. Working on a PLUQ right now.
I carry one and a half pads and criss cross them. I angle the long one across a two layer hennessy clone hammock. that seems to work fairly well.
(true disclosure: I just made a down underquilt, which should take me out of the blue pad club. Only two nights in it to date. The underquilts have a learning curve also to get them to hang tight)

What I did is cut my blue pad in half and taped the halves beside each other. It gives me coverage from my shoulders to my butt. And if it gets cold I take a full length pad also and I sleep very warm.
I duct taped wings from another pad onto mine to cover my shoulders. This kept the pad long enough to cover the length of my body, which was definitely necessary in the temps I was using it at (7* F) I was definitely still a bit chilly, but it got the job done.

My son cut his into a mummy bag shape and sticks it inside his sleeping bag.It ends up molding to his body and he sleeps great. Survived a 25 degree night this past weekend just fine.
Cut in half with the two halves sideways (covers from neck to knees) and a small peace for under my feet which doubles as a butt pad.
I use a Grand Trunk Double, and sleep on a 45 degree angle. A single pad will always try to twist around so that it aligns with the hammock.
I recently tried duct-taping two of the Walmart blue pads together, and whacking off the corners at a shallow angle until the I get a shape like an old wooden barrel. The resulting shape can be wedged between the left and right hems of the hammock and will hold position until I can lay down and pin the pad in place.
Initial testing looks good, but I'll have to figure out a way of folding and then rolling the two halves to make it manageable when not in use. I'll also have to cut the pads in several places to allow it to follow the hammock contours more closely.
