ps iv just watched a few of your vids shug, very entertaining! i like your style :P
Its really hard to explain what it does. Its a lot like three channels. Two smaller channels with one bigger channel in the middle. You tend to be supported by the center channel and if I remember right it helps with the loose sides. I find it give a bit flatter lay for me.
Thats about the best I can find to show it. I have highlighted the three channels that are formed by that style whipping.
I tried about 20 different whipping techniques before I finely got one I liked. Just try a bunch and stick with the one that feels most comfortable. A lot of hammocks is just keep trying until it feels good to you. Its a really personal decision.

it's looks pretty nice to me. those woods look a little creepy though. your #2, is the hammock slipping like the tension you put on the sides is relaxing a little after you lay in it? if that's the case, you could be slipping a little from the polypropylene straps. unless you have a really high B.S., they will stretch. maybe use a polyester or it looks like you've got about 12"/18" from the gather out to a biner, maybe swap that out for amsteel with a looped end.
Thanks for all the advice guys, my straps actually seem a bit short so I may replace these with longer polyester ones and then re whip it using the hennessy method of rolling and make sure I whip it a lot tighter this time. Once that's sorted my next project is an underquilt from an old sleeping bag!
packeagle i have quick question on the roll whipping you mentioned, when rolling the marerial do you roll both sides towards the middle over the top or do you roll over then under then over etc if you know what i mean?
hammock looks great...congrads
