Welcome to HF! Where in South Africa are you going? I've been there a few times and one of my best friends lives in Cape Town. It's an awesome place with tons of stuff to do. You're going to have a blast!

Stay safe! Hope you brushed up with your Survivorman Funny you mention this because I was just watching his south african episode last week and he makes a hammock out of the balloon material for his hot air balloon. At one point he references CBS saying that as hot as it was, it was surprisingly cool in the hammock, haha!
Hidy-ho, welcome to the HF and good luck on the travels!

Johannesburg is great! My friend's parents own a goat farm there. I went on safari in Botswana which was such an awesome experience. Even when we had a few water buffalo get to close to camp. I can't wait to see your pics of Vic falls. You may have to go to ground for Nambia though. Regardless, you're going to have a blast!

welcome to the madness. Here in the US we worry (jokingly) about becoming a bear taco while hanging. I guess you will have to worry about becoming a Lion taco.
