Have my generator ready and my kayak by the back door. I have weathered about 6 'canes here in the last 18 years.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !
"Dutch has offered several items for a raffle for the "Greyson County Fall Festival Hang" at GHSP. This would likely be a smaller version of a raffle than others we have had. The main purpose would be to cover the costs of the group site fees and to promote some of our vendors products at the Mt rogers hang.
We may go beyond the group site cost so we will need to decide were to send any extra funds raised.
We already have a good selection to start with (thanks to Dutch) and are not really trying for larger items but something that is indicative of what you supply to the HF community. Perhaps just 1 or 2 items that sell for around $10 to $20.
Our vendors of hammocks & supplies do a great service for the hammocking community. Our goal here is not to have a very big raffle, but to...
1)... cover our camp site cost
2)... pass any extras to a worthy cause chosen by attending HF members and any vendors taking part (attending or not)
3)... provide a little extra advertizing for our cottage vendors (no matter how small)
4)... and maybe most important, add an extra measure of fun & excitement for those attending."
I too will something make and joy in it's making
I'm still trying to get my calendar in order. I'm hoping to be able to attend but won't know until closer to time.

Hope you can do it Patrick. It would be a great event for the family.
I could even see you buying a pony (or two) for your girls at the auction

I know they'd like to have one.

We got off easy this time in our our area. The NC outerbanks got hammered as usauall any time a hurricane goes thru. Sounds like the New England area got really hammered.
Of course we have not had any rain here for a couple of months so the ground was very dry and able to absorb the rainfall with little problem
