    I too use mason's line for my tarp, and had the same tangles. Here's how I handled it, I went to Wal-mart and picked up a multipack of small elastic hair bands(here's a pic of what I'm talking about), and tied one on each line close to the tarp. Now, when I pack up my tarp, I simply wind it up around my hand and when I get to the end, I wrap the elastic band around the gathered line a couple of times. Cheap and easy!

    1)My guylines are just hanked with at least 3-4 half hitches..keeps it wrapped up and no tangles 2)use modified tautline hitch-haven't experienced slippage but easy to tighten. 3)Use ridgeline under tarp.. use prussik on ridgeline to tieouts on tarp..attached with either a bowline or double sheet bend. 4) I store tarp with all guylines attached.
    Yes, I know it's alot of knots. I like tying knots. May have something to do with knowledge from time in USMC and now rope rescue I do at the fire dept.

    I agree with using snake skins. This has worked for me since I made the tarp.

    I was thinking of something similar to this, using regular newpaper elastic bands, but I was concerned about the fact that elastic bands do not last (especially in sunlight and freeze/thaw cycles.) Using the nylon elastic hair bands is an ingenious solution. I will have to give them a try.
    I have snakes skings but have been unable to locate them. I have wondered if using SS would solve my tangling problems. From others experience, it sounds as though it may. Now....Where did i put those dang snake skins?... Honey!!!?
