Took my HH w/SS and new Superfly out this weekend. The SS did well down to about 33F. I woke up shivering and slipped the JRB NS over top the SS and spent the rest of the night toasty warm.
The forest was beautiful this time of the year. Much of the trail had been unbroken, except for turkey or deer tracks. Got a real feeling of solitude. With the light bit of snow and 3/4 moon things were very bright at night. Listening to 15 Mile Creek all night was relaxing and made it hard to get out of the hammock in the morning.
I walked the C&O Canal from PawPaw to the East park entrance, then followed the trail in about 6 miles to a beautiful spot. In the morning I had about a 3 mile hike up to the visitors center were my wife picked me up. Short and sweet and very enjoyable.
