I was in Jackson Hole last summer at the art fair and met Gilbert Gruzanski who makes these hammocks from cotton cord. I'm a big guy (6' 240lbs.) but GIlbert showed me photos of a 450 lb Sumo guy in one, so I sat into it. UNBELIEVABLE! Most comfortable hammock I had ever been in.
Has anyone else here tried / using these hammocks? I bought one and had to get a second after my wife tried it. I have one hanging in my daughter's room now and one in a spot in the basement. Love it.

Yeah, Gilbert started making hammock chairs, I think, then developed these. He seems to have tweaked the angle just right. To me, the nice thing is you can sit very comfortably, and then you just hook your heels into the extra netting under your legs and push out, and you are laying back. Same with the head end.
He wound up being approached by people working with Muscular Dystrophy patients and some others working with autistic kids. He makes a poly version which can be easily disinfected for the medical field. Anyway, love this hammock around the house; wish there was a lightweight version for backpacking.
If anyone around Portage, IN wants to try mine out, they can hit me up. I am new here and want to try to get to the IN hangout in April if work permits. If I do, I may bring one in the car, at least.

My wife and i had one a long time ago. Bought it at a craft fair and used it for years. Put many a baby to sleep in it. Very comfy and very strong.

I've seen something similar (may be the same chair) at our local fair and have always wondered about it. Useally they are filled with a bunch of kids so that people interested in actually buying them can't get anywhere near to trying it.

Alamosa - that is exactly what I encountered in Jackson Hole! I had to wait for a hammock to open up because of all of the kids and Kid/mom pairs using the hammocks. But something told me to wait it out, and I was happy I dd. I just about fell asleep in the first 5 minutes.
The one-point suspension does make it easy to hang in the house and around any tree with a decent limb.
