Pics of my first DIY Hammock plus some Questions

Hi, i have just completed my first diy hammock (see pics). I made it out of a sheet of rip stop nylon, with asym tie out points, whipped at each end in the 'W' formation with paracord and attached at each end to 1 inch polypropylene webbing via a loop in the webbing which was made into a larks head and pulled tight over each end behind the whipping. Im very pleased with the outcome but have some questions:

1. the edges are very slack, i have pulled the long edges through more when whipping but they are still quite slack, how much slack should their be?

2. the whipping keeps slipping towards the end, i think this is in part due to the larks head in the webbing slipping towards the end and putting pressure on the whipping and in turn making it slip. Any tips on how to prevent this? Im using about 5 turns in the whipping, is this enough? Any tips on getting it as tight as possible? And also any tips on preventing the webbing slipping towards the whipping?

3. how long are your straps at each end? i dont think mine are long enough

Any help greatly appreciated

Looks good to me. I sewed a channel on the ends of my material. That when gathered forms a bulge at the end. I don't worry about the whipping or the larks head coming off because its 2x the main body of the hammock in size.

(If this is just jiberish just ignore its been a long day)

does it look ok? iv never owned a hammock b4 so iv nothing to compare it with except what iv seen on you tube, how much slack is there in the edges of yours? what do you mean its 2x the main body in size?

Looks like a pretty great first attempt to me. Is it comfortable?

yeah it seems pretty comfy, i can get reasonably flat on the diagonal in it (im a side sleeper), tho iv only tested it for half an hr earlier today as i was pushed for time, il have to give it a more thorough test at the weekend. Have you any tips on whipping??

thanks shug, maybe im a bit paranoid lol. i actually followed that tutorial when i was whipping it, i think maybe i havent put enough turns in and pulled it tight enough as i just used my hands and no pliers, il have another go at it tmrw

I found that I really like the lay of this style whipping. Could just be thats what I'm used to as my DIY came after my HH Explorer. You dont need to sew the ends together like he does thats only really needed if you sew on a bug net. Just fold like he does and whip the ends. When I did my whipping all I did was tie the whipping cordage as tightly as i could around the ends of my hammock two or three times.

Use the pliers for sure!!!!!

By the way ... I was born in Derry. We were in Belfast about 4 years ago ... visiting circus friends at the Belfast Circus school..... did a show at the Empire with a bunch of fine folks.
I felt right at home!!!!!!
