I just wanted to add that Ncwinterhiker is one more trooper. Making the trip down late Saturday afternoon and pulking that load of firewood back up. Thanks man.

Just uploaded a video to YT of Round Knob, across the road from where we camped. Took this Sunday, after packing out with Hickery.

Nice video acer! That is the beginning of my favorite hike so far. Carvers gap to 19 e. The video gives a small hint of the intensity of the wind up another 800 feet at the exposed knob....

Thanks cooldays! It was great hiking with Darby, Shutterbug, and you on Sat.
Yeah, it was blowing the whole time, but I managed to shield the camera with my body for some of it.
I'm gonna try to get a group from my hiking club to organize a trip to do that section in the spring probably.

Anyone know what the low temp for Saturday was? I was much warmer in my hammock than on Friday night.

Great Video PF, I was standing right where you were on Round Bald but on Saturday. It was just as windy then too! Glad I got to see ya in the parking area before you headed back up. Sounds like all of you had a good trip!

I never would have thought it was you, if I hadn't seen you with your hiking poles from the top of the bald!
Yep, I believe a good time was had by all!

...ummm, so who is gonna start the trip reports? I mean, in the Trip Reports section, that is.

    If you're ready go ahead.
Everyone can pile in from there.

Yeah, we made a log cabin stack of the nice oak that NCWinterHiker lugged up the hill, put it over the old coals to make a better cooking fire. The rest of the time, we had a parallel fire... but I called it a perpendicular fire, being 90* to the wind! After we inadvertently did it that way, we figured it was a good thing, else the gale would have burned it up too fast.
