MacCat Ultra is a champ in high winds

Hung out the last 2 nights here in Corvallis, OR. Had Gusts up to 40 MPH with medium-heavy rain. I stayed nice and dry under my MacCat Ultra with pole mod. I had the warbonnet superfly (with doors) set up first, but even with the side tieouts the tarp was whipping around, and I was afraid one of the guyouts might break off in a gust. Not so with the MacCat. The slimmer wind profile, generous cat cuts, extra side tieout and pole made all the difference! This thing was rock solid. This will be my go to tarp when high winds are in the forecast.

where do you get the pole mod for the Ultra? - I have an Ultra in SpinnUL that I might want to try the pole mod with.

http://www.2qzqhammockhanger.com/ My Ultra is currently with them getting doors sewn on as well as the pole mod. 2QZQ does excellent work. I had a zippers sewn into my old Hennessey by them.

I actually did my own pole mod, I used some silnet to attach a piece of velcro on the inside of the peak, and thread the pole sideways into the tieout point. Works pretty well, I'll post some pics when I get a chance.

I definitely want to see the pictures of your pole mod. I'm about to order a carbon fiber pole for my MacCat Ultra. I would love to see how you make your pole pockets!

Post the Roan Mountain hang with the same high winds I can second the vote for McCat Ultra in stability. Another plus if you are in an area where snow can build up is the fact that the pole can help prevent snow load hammock squeeze-e.g. when the snow builds up the tarp pushing it against the hammock/er.
