    Another first DIY hammock (pics)

I thought you guys might enjoy seeing the results of a using 72"(!) wide 1.9 oz ripstop (Ebay, 3.50 per yard) to create a double layer HHDJ style but with gathered ends. I ended up copying 2QZQ's mod 4 design for the zip-off bugnet. I also included a removable/adjustable ridgeline. The only "mistake" I made was in the location of the openings between the layers -- I put them in the middle of the long sides of the asym diamond rather than in the short sides which makes inserting a pad slightly more cumbersome.

I need to re-whip the thing to get it just right but holy jeez is this thing comfy. The 72" width creates a huge sweet spot and an extremely flat lay. Not the lightest hammock by any means, but I mostly car camp or hang in a single location for long periods.

The girlfriend modelling with the bugnet zipped off and partially stuffed away.

Detail of the zip-off bugnet and built in stuff sack.

    Detail of side tie-out.

Many thanks to HF for the help and oodles of information!

Outstanding DIY you got there, well done. I see no 'mistakes' at all.

Great looking hammock. Love the way your bug net can stow out of the way.
