    hello from central mass

    hi all,
my name is dave and im a total noob as far as hammock camping goes. havent camped at all in a few years due to back pain from tent/ground laying. recently came across a couple of of you tube videos and thought hammock camping might be for me. i do not yet have any equipment, just kinda doing research on the boards and thought id introduce myself. if anyone in my area would be willing to show me their set ups that would be rad.

    welcome to the madness.

First, watch all of Shug's videos. Lots of good info and also funny.

Next, check to see if there is a group hang in your area that you can attend. Even if you have to take a tent you will still be welcomed and you can usally check out lots of different setups and most of us will be happy to let you get in our hammocks to check them out.

There is no one perfect hammock, suspension ect setup. I started with one hammock and now have 5 and looking to get some more as $$ permits.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

    Welcome welcome.

Welcome to the wonderful world of hammocks. I hope to see you at the hang in May.

Welcome from FLorida! Like you, hammocks have made my backpacking more enjoyable because now, I don't dread having to sleep on the ground. I spend a lot of time backpacking in New England; I really like the region a lot.
