    DIY IX Underquilt

So, does it count if I had my wife help me finish/assist with the thread injector? Here is my first "big" project, an IX underquilt using Scott Littlefield's design. It is 48 x 60, with 3 layers of IX (got the IX, grosgrain, cord locks, and shock cord in the mail this afternoon, Thanks Scott!). Used an inner and outer covering of ripstop I picked up from JoAnn's with a coupon.

Grosgrain and a fuzzy phone camera are great at hiding my poor stitches.

And, it will be exceptionally valuable if a SAR team is looking for you

    Dude.
    You are my hero!
My wife just rolls her eyes at me when she sees me starting to make something. I'd be thrilled if if anything ever turns into a team project.

    The IX UQ looks great.
I used mine last night (also 3 layer) down to 32* and it did fine. I wasn't baking, but was comfortable enough to sleep. And I sure knew it when I rolled off of the UQ. I thought my shoulder was frozen! Didn't realize how much insulation it was providing until I rolled off of it.
I'm sure you'll be thrilled with yours.

I saw your post and thought, "hey, did I even ship his order yet?" Wow, you made fast work of that... Looks great!

Or if I mistakenly camp in a bullfighting arena...

I have spent the last 22 years wearing BDUs, ACUs, and assorted camoflauge, so I figured it would be a nice change of pace to have some loud gear. Went out and hung it on my recently purchased black WBBB. Won't have much trouble finding me when our scout troop goes camping.

My wife let me make a hammock on Valentine's Day while she went to bed. Of course, she is six months pregnant with our sixth child. She wants a serger, so helping me is helping her.

Thanks, Scott. I should have ordered Amsteel and tie out line. Will put in an order this week.
