    Hammock Sizing?

I just ordered some rip stop to make my first DIY hammock. I was planning on using the Hennessy clone tutorial posted by Headchange4u but had a question that I've not been able to find a good answer to.

I'm 6' 6" and 255 lbs. Most of my gear I have to special order or modify to make it fit/work right. I've been reading a lot and I've seen the Height + 2 foot + 24 inch + seam allowance but I'm not sure that it would apply like that to the Hennessy clone. In all my reading I haven't found anything in the forum that shows any formula for the Hennessy.

My plan is to add two feet to the basic Hennessy design. The length in the tutorial is 10' and I was planning on going to 12'.

Does this sound to long? Is it going to cause problems making it that much longer? Should I go shorter? Opinions?

    Thanks in advance!

There is a member named Coffee who is 6' 4" and uses a HH clone that is 120" and says it fits him just fine. Others have suggested that Hennessy uses 130" as another common length in their hammocks so that is the length I'm going to use. I played with the geometry a bit on my drawing board and it looks like that will give me enough length on the diagonal without putting so much in that fabric tension becomes a great issue.

I'll let you know how it works out, my fabric should be here next week. (Had to order since there was no good choice for a local supply.)

FWIW I am 6' 2" and I start w/ 11'6" of fabric before roll hemming edges etc... Bigger / longer works great for me. YMMV...

Good luck & post pics to show it off.
