Anyone use a line level when hanging?

just curious, as i have set up hammock several times to climb in and realize was sliding to one end or the other, then had to re-adjust set up etc...

so been thinking of carrying a harbour freight $1.79, 4 inch hanging line level....stretch and hang twine between trees first, with level hanging in middle....check for reasonably level situation.....

then hang hammock, foot end above twine on tree, head end below line on tree....should give me a like 3 to 4 inch foot up hang as recommended...release the twine and hang happy!

Sound feasible or do I have bad case of compulsive D here?????

The first thing you will do with the plastic line level is break off one of the hangers when you pack it. Easier to just look at it, climb in, and if you're not comfortable with your head to feet ratio, raise or lower the problem end. A couple of inches can make a big difference. It becomes more obvious the more you hang.

I use a little line level made by Stanley. I got it at Wally World for something like 1.50. It stays on my hammock ridge line always. Its only 2 inches long at most

Have had a line level in my HH for years - hasn't broken so far!

I just hang the tree strap for the foot end above eye level and the head end below eye level. Has worked well for me so farwith nothing more to carry lose, or break.

I also try to hang a hammock on every hike, if only just to hang it. After setting up in a few different settings you get a feel for what's going to work for you.

I have used a plastic one for several years. Helps take the guess work out of the hang on uneven ground.

It's feasible, but unnecessary. How will it make things more comfortable than just eyeballing it and hanging the foot end higher?
